Malan holds an LLB and qualified and practised as an attorney in the Western Cape. His legal career focused primarily on commercial litigation, insurance and general litigation. Alongside practice, he became involved in integrating AI-powered solutions into law firms, which sparked a growing interest in legal AI engineering, automation and the design of better legal workflows.

He brings experience in commercial litigation, contractual disputes, legal drafting, research and client advisory work. Malan has also worked closely with developers to build AI-powered legal technology and improve legal processes through automation. Founding a South African AI-powered legal platform gave him hands-on experience across legal technology, product development, operations and business strategy.

At Radiant, Malan is excited to combine his legal background with AI and automation to improve how legal work is delivered. He was drawn to the firm’s practical, people-focused approach and its willingness to challenge traditional ways of working. His strengths in legal problem-solving, process design and AI implementation help him build practical tools that make complex work simpler.

Outside of work, Malan enjoys golf, padel, painting, reading and gaming. He is naturally drawn to activities that are competitive, creative or immersive.
